In Wednesday night’s pub quiz, this question came up:
What kind of animal is a krait?
After a bit of silence and mulling, I volunteered, ‘You know, that’s the name of a ship class on Elite.’
Someone perked up. ‘Really? What were the other classes?’
‘Well, there was the Cobra – that was the standard ship. Then there were the police Vipers. I can’t remember much of the rest.’
‘Both snakes, right? So the krait must be a snake…’
And so it was. Inspired flashes of brilliance like this are what makes the team ‘That’s the Badger’ into the rampaging quiz-monster that it is, winning 24 pints and £20 in the last month.
