This is a list of MetaFilter oddities; files, old pages, stalled projects, weird corners, and shadowy back alleys from various dead-ends in the site's evolution. There's a ton of cool nooks and MeFi-related projects off the site too, but this list concentrates on stuff hosted at MetaFilter.com (with the one exception of cortex's MeFi 2.0 research hub MetaFiltr).

Note *: After the Great Hack and New Server Fiasco of January 2009, some files were lost and not all services were immediately restored. MetaFilter waits with bated breath for the return of MarkovFilter, TravelFilter, User Word Clouds, the Infodump, etc. It is believed that cached copies of the lost images may exist on hard drives owned by one or more MeFite, though they have not yet surfaced. If you have one of these files, please post a link to it or contact carsonb.
