Update: Gmail is no longer invitation-only as described on this page. If you have a mobile phone that can receive text messages, you can sign up for a gmail account without bothering with invitations as described below.

Gmail, the free webmail service provided by Google, is currently invitation only. There has been quite a bit of discussion at MetaFilter regarding gmail, particularly [this thread] at AskMetaFilter. Given the demand for accounts, here is a good place for MeFi members to list their supply of or demand for gmail invitations. Please feel free to add yourself to the appropriate list, and be sure to update when you send or receive an invitation. If you add yourself to the list of those who need an invitation and subsequently receive more than one, please forward the invitation on to another needy Mefite on the list. Thanks!

People with invitations, and people who want them might also consider visiting [isnoop's Gmail invite distributor].

When emailing people with invitations, include your full name and email address you would like the invitation to be sent to.

People with gmail invitations to spare can create clickable invites by sending your invitations to yourself, then going to your gmail sent mail and copying the URL in the outbound email and posting it here.

Clickable invites:

Those with invitations:

Invitation contests:

Pending Invitations (don't forget to add to Success Stories at the bottom of this page when successful)

Those who need an invitation:
