Wouldn&#039;t be more meaningful to rate cars by dollars per mile? Technology advances but human brains do not compute.

20 miles / gallon @ $3 per gallon is the same as 15 cents per mile.

Such a rating system would encourage conservation measures such as inflating tires to optimize milage, driving less, and driving less aggressively. As well as promoting cars which are more energy efficient.

Also, instead of just &quot;city vs country&quot;, why not require ratings at various constant speeds and various rates of acceleration?</description>
